September 2018 Newsletter

September marks the start of our regular monthly Membership meetings.  Due to the Labor Day holiday the next General Meeting is September 10, 2018 at 7:30 PM

● Labor Day means that we are headed back to the indoor range, the leagues, and our junior program. Thank you to all our volunteers who put in time over the summer. The remaining “to do” items include finishing the steel gable to the kitchen, putting down a couple of layers of waterproofing to the outdoor turning target mounting boards, and the usual end-of-season maintenance. We will be setting up an outdoor range work date at the September meeting.

● We will be hosting the Annual Club Picnic at the outdoor range on Saturday October 6, 2018 beginning at 12:30pm. This is a fun, family friendly event. As usual, the club will be providing dogs, burgers, and sweet corn. Traditionally, this is a BYOB or bring a small dish to pass event. This is a fun mixer and all are encouraged to come out. Be sure to bring a folding chair.

● A SPECIAL PROGRAM FOR THE OCTOBER MEETING. The ECMC Trauma Team is coming to Ten X on October 1 to offer a special 60-90 minute training program on how to recognize and treat serious bleeding. Topics include when and how to use direct pressure, wound packing, and the use of a tourniquet. All students will have the hands-on opportunity to practice these skills and will be issued a course completion certificate at the end of the class. The class is FREE but we need to give ECMC a reliable number of members attending. Please RSVP by sending an email to tenxpeter@hotmail.com before September 15 to ensure you receive credit! We will start an hour earlier, at 6:30 pm to accommodate the class. Plan on car-pooling so that we have enough space.

● Winter shooting leagues are now forming. We will participate in the Niagara Frontier Pistol League and Suburban Pistol League. Club members interested in fielding a team in the WNY Sporter Rifle League or the Niagara Frontier Precision Rifle League are encouraged to start discussing the idea. All formal leagues start shooting for score in October. Check out our webpage or come to the September meeting for more information!

● As a reminder, we will be hosting the New York State Outdoor Pistol Championship on September 15 and 16. We need volunteers for both days. This is a major tournament and is one of our most important opportunities to show the public and other shooters just how good our club is and how active our members are.
