September 2020 Newsletter

Hello Everyone,

The days are getting shorter and we are getting closer to the kids going back to school.  That means we are resuming our monthly membership meetings next month.

Because Labor Day falls late, the next General Meeting is September 14, 2020.  We will start promptly at 7:30 PM

Due to COVID-19 concerns, the September meeting will be a “Virtual Meeting” over the Zoom app.  We will not be hosting an in-person meeting.  The link to the zoom meeting is at the end of this post.

● COVID continues to affect the Club. The virus is still causing havoc for organized club activities and the shooting sports in general. It caused the 2019-2020 NFPL season to be cut short, the SPL/NFPL awards banquet to be cancelled, our NRA 2700 matches cancelled, and the cancellation of WNYOPL! As this newsletter goes to press, no one seems to know what the fall/winter pistol leagues will look like, let alone if they actually happen. There will be much to talk about at the September meeting.

● By-Law changes under consideration. One of the topics at the September meeting will be possible changes to the club By-Laws and standing rules. Under consideration are the following:

– clarification or changes to club policy concerning locking doors and gates when the range is in use;

– reconsideration of the schedule change enacted over the summer to limit “tactical shooting”

– clarification or changes to club policy concerning what constitutes the “firing line” as used in the Code of Conduct

– consideration of changes to the policy concerning use of the club by members and outside organizations.

● Volunteer hour opportunities. Members looking to fulfill their volunteer hours should contact the Chief Range Officer or any other Board member if you cannot reach CRO Jim W.. We still need people to help mow and trim grass, to help trim bushes and trees, as well as work on a number of small repair projects.
