October 2017 Newsletter

At least it still feels like summer, and not like October!  Our next General Membership meeting will be Monday October 2, 2017, at 7:30 pm at our indoor range at 853 Ransom Road.  We have much going on this month.

September 2017 Newsletter

Welcome back!

We hope everyone enjoyed our all-to-brief summer. We are pleased to report that we ran three well-attended WNYOPL matches and two well-attended NRA tournaments since our last General Meeting. We have lots of projects and improvements that we would like to put in place for the membership, so we hope that you will attend the General Membership meeting this month.

A printable PDF version of this month’s Club Newsletter is attached below.

Please note!  The membership voted at the May meeting to limit the number of printed and mailed newsletters to the September, December bulletins, and to special newsletters such as the annual work duty roster and newsletters announcing bylaw or constitutional amendments.

August 2017 Newsletter

Welcome to High Summer everyone!  We hope that you are enjoying some time away from work or some time getting to the range.  This month, Ten X will continue to host weekly practices on Thursdays  and Steel Plate Challenge practices on designated Tuesdays.  Check the Club calendar for updates.  This month we will be hosting a 3-gun pistol match and our WNYOPL team will still be competing every Sunday.  With that, here is the August newsletter:

July 2017 Newsletter

Happy Independence Day!  We hope you celebrated freedom and the foundation of our Republic by getting out to the range.  The Club is publishing this newsletter online only.  Starting with the October newsletter, we will be going entirely paperless.  There will be a few paper copies of the newsletter posted at the indoor range or outdoor range, but the membership voted to eliminate the postage, printing and mailing costs for our normal business.  Exceptions will be for the Annual Ballot (December) Roster (April) and Annual Reorganization (September) newsletters or if there is a vote to amend the Club Constitution or bylaws.  With that, here is the news:

The next General Membership meeting will be Monday, June 5, 2017 at 7:30 pm at the Indoor Range.  This will be our last General Membership meeting until September.

The PDF format of the newsletter can be downloaded by clicking this link.

This month we need to extend a “thank you” e-note to Jim Gerstung for continuing to be the liaison and face of the Club at the Western New York Outdoor Pistol League, Al Hopkins for tree trimming at the outdoor range, Mitch Vogel for producing our in-house safety video and Roy Smith for fixing the turning target mechanism at the indoor range.

Good shooting,

Peter Vasilion, Club President

May 2017 Newsletter

The next General Membership meeting will be Monday, May 1, 2017 at 7:30 pm at the Indoor Range.  The old saying is that April showers bring May flowers.  Hopefully, we will soon be done with showers altogether for a while.  Because the outdoor range looks more like Lake Ontario than a shooting range:

With May upon us, we are moving towards the outdoor shooting season and the WNYOPL League.  We had a clean up party on April 22 to help get the outdoor range into shape.  Thank you to Mitch V. for heading up this project.

Speaking of projects, we have accomplished much in a few short weeks.  More on that in this month’s newsletter, but a public thank you needs to be made to the following members:  Al H., Roy S., Dale S., Matt G., Mitch V., Jim M., Jim G., and Bill F., among many others.

Please take a moment to read this month’s newsletter.  You can download it by clicking this link.

April 2017 Newsletter

Happy Post-St.-Patrick’s-Day Weekend!  The April Newsletter is attached below for downloading.

Spring is rapidly approaching now, which means we will start shooting outdoors later in April.  A new gate combination will be included in the paper newsletter mailed to members in good standing.  If you do not receive your April newsletter in the mail before the General Meeting on April 3, you either did not pay your dues, pay your work assessment, or your address information needs updating.

Many thanks to member Matt G. who worked very hard to ensure that Ten X won an NRA Development Grant in the amount of $3,000 to fund a junior program.  Matt also was able to secure a monetary donation from Cabella’s to assist the program.  This is why it is important to be a member of the NRA and we would be happy to help renew your membership in NRA or help you join.  Ten X is proud to be an official NRA recruiter club.

As we look to move outdoors, we […]

March 2017 Newsletter

This month’s newsletter starts with our deep appreciation and thanks to all of the members who contributed time in February to get the range ready for the Indoor Pistol Championship.  Special thanks to Tom Florkowski, Tom Wisiorek, Ed Richter, Charles Metler, Tom Petschke, and George Kirkpatrick for helping with the February 18 clean-up.  Thanks also to Ed Richter for his dry-wall repair expertise – the repairs in the upstairs ready room really look good.

The Suburban Pistol League wrapped up last month.  We have the most shooters of any SPL affiliated club, and it shows because of the number of overall matches won.  Thanks to each and every member who came out and fired at least one match!

The NFPL season will wrap up this month.  There are only three weeks left, with the next two matches at home.  There is still time to come out and see what it is all about.

We will have a number of updates at this month’s meeting.  Come out to find out what’s […]

January 2017 Newsletter

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!  We hope that everyone enjoys the coming holiday and that every one of our members gets at least one high-powered gift.  The January Newsletter is attached below.  Here are the highlights:

Due to the fact that New Years Day falls on a Sunday, January 2 is a Holiday.  This will push our General Meeting to Monday January 9, 2017. The proposed amendment to the Ten X Constitution will be voted on at this upcoming meeting. There will be updates concerning the Youth Development initiative and this coming year’s range improvement projects.

The 2017 January Newsletter can be downloaded by clicking this link.

The Club will need a couple metalworkers to help fabricate a few air gun pellet traps and we will need to schedule an indoor range repair party to replace vestibule subfloor and replace the linoleum at the door threshold.
