Indoor Range Paving Project

The project to pave the indoor range parking lot was completed today. Many thanks to Loewer Paving who began the job months ahead of our expected schedule.

Thanks are also due Roy Smith and Bill Frears who helped to cut back the overgrown brush along the edges of the parking area.

New York State Outdoor Pistol Championship

Congratulations to Boston Valley Conservation Society member Rich Powers for his match win this weekend. We enjoyed the company of thirteen competitors for this match. The Final Bulletin is linked below.

Iroquois Varsity Rifle Team Begins Its Season

The Iroquois High School Varsity Rifle Team began its season last week with their first practices at our range. The team generally meets at our indoor range from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday. There are no practices on Friday, school holidays, or any day that school is canceled due to weather. When the team is using the range, both ranges are reserved for their exclusive use — primarily for safety’s sake. If the team’s practices or matches run past 6:00 p.m., please have patience and understanding. We want to encourage the kids and ensure they have favorable opinions about guns, our club, and our members!

Please check our online calendar for updates because we will post the weeks when the team will not be using the range due to Christmas and Mid-Winter breaks.

Nominations Sought for Club Officers

Our annual election of club officers is held at the December meeting, which means that candidates must be nominated at this coming meeting. Per our Constitution, any member who has been a member in good standing for at least one year, and who has attended half of the preceding year’s meetings, is eligible to run for an office.

If you are interested in running for an office, please have someone nominate you at the meeting. Be prepared to describe what you would like to achieve for the Club as an Officer, of course!

Tuesday Night Sporterifle

Last night we had our second Tuesday night Sporterifle shoot. We have enjoyed the experience and will be continuing on Tuesday nights and would love to see additional people out to join us.

The course of fire is designed to allow a wide participation from juniors, thru adults and including seniors.

The Target used is:

NRA A32 Target

The Sporterifle course of fire will consists of 30 record shots with a possible total of 300 points, fired slow-fire, single loaded from the standing position at 50 feet. Three targets shall be fired with ten record shots on each target. Each target shall have two shots on each record bull, with unlimited shots on the sighter. The time allowance shall be ten minutes for each ten shot target, including any fouler, sighting, and all record shots.

The scores are documented and sent in each week (postal match) and compared against teams not only within Western New York, but across New York State.

This new activity is a great opportunity to bring out your children, as juniors can shoot alongside us, (in fact, the league fees are lower for juniors to lessen the cost of bringing your family) and also a great opportunity to bring out your friends to shoot with us or for prospective members to come see the club. it’s a great way to spend a tuesday night!

The League fees are:
$2 Annual League Fee (Due at first Match Fired)

Adult Weekly Match Fees: $4 for members, $5 for non-members (this includes the ten-x range fee)
Junior Weekly Match Fees:$ 2.50

What to bring: A .22 Rimfire rifle, Any sights (including scopes) weighing lesss than 7 1/2 pounds and having a safe and reliable trigger. (Bolt guns are easiest to single load, but semi-autos work just fine)

Ammunition used, 30 rounds for score, you will probably want to bring some extra incase you want to shoot ahead for the following week if you won’t be able to attend, or if you want to get some additional practice in as well.
