2013 Conventional Pistol Sectional

Attached, please find the 2013 Conventional Pistol Sectional Program. The match will be ran at the indoor range on the evening of March 15, and the days of March 16 and 17. Please note that all applications to participate should be received by March 12 to guaranty squadding. Any applications submitted at the door will be assessed with a $2 late fee.

December 3 General Meeting

A significant number of members called Your Humble Moderator over the weekend about the conflict between the meeting on Monday December 3 and the NFPL match.

The General Meeting will be held as scheduled at 8:00pm at the indoor range. The NFPL match will be rescheduled.

The agenda for the meeting includes the elections for the 2013 Board. See you there.

Suburban Pistol League

As discussed at the September General Meeting, Ten-X has now officially rejoined the Suburban Pistol League. Home matches will be fired on Tuesday nights. You can participate in NFPL and/or SPL, as per your discretion, but we really would like to ensure we have at least ten shooters on each team. We do not yet have a team captain for SPL, so if you are looking to lead the team to victory, ensure that you will be at the October General Meeting!

56th Annual Ten X Shooting Club Picnic

Greetings Members!

It’s time for the 56th Annual Ten X Shooting Club Picnic!

Come on out to catch up with old friends and meet some new ones.

Bring your families and friends so they can actually see where you waste all that free time of yours.

Sunday September 30, 2012 from 1:00PM at our Outdoor Range.

As far as food goes, the Club will provide a grill and hot dogs, hamburger patties, buns and maybe even some condiments.

You should bring a pot-luck dish and your favorite drink.

I’ll bring the cigars and the Dewars ‘cause I promise nobody wants to eat anything I might try to cook.

Feel free to break out the horseshoes or bocce ball or volleyball or jarts (are jarts even legal in NYS?) or whatever else you can think of that makes a picnic a picnic.

The Western New York Outdoor Pistol League is shooting in the morning. But they should be long gone and the Range will be shut down by the time you [...]

NYS Pistol Championship

Rifle Range Open

The rifle range officially reopened this past week. Many, many, “thank you’s” are owed to the following people who contributed a full weekend to the project: Paul Englert, Brian Mackey, Art Young, Peter Vasilion, and Martin Gorman. Thank you to Mitch Vogel and Bruce Matthies for trimming trees and overseeing the backstop project. Lastly, thank you to Dan Zupelli (a non-member and Paul’s neighbor) for providing his 10-ton trailer and logistical support.

Thanks go to Martin Gorman and Art Young who returned during the week to build new target frames and target racks. Please take care not to shoot up their handiwork if you use the range.

Now that the range is open, the Board would appreciate that users follow a couple basic guidelines: first, only paper targets are allowed (no poppers, old televisions, bowling pins, etc.) and, second, be sure to police up your spent brass. Abandoned cases damage lawnmowers!

Utah / Florida CCW Class

For anyone interested in obtaining a Florida or Utah CCW, enabling you to carry in up to 37 other states, Ten-X has arranged with Firearms Training of Western New York to host the class necessary to obtain your license in either state at the indoor range. The current dates are:

Thursday, August 30th from 6pm – 10pm, and
Saturday, September 1st from 8:30am – 12:30pm

You can attend either class. Registration isn’t required, but appreciated.

This does mean, however, that the indoor range is closed for the duration of these classes.

New Security System at the Indoor Range

Greetings Members,

Some of you may have already noticed that our new security system at the indoor range has been successfully installed! After a minor hitch in our giddy-up, it seems now that all is working well.

Obviously we still need to distribute the new “Proximity Key Fobs” to those of you who have paid your fee for the year. Carl Brimo has generously offered to continue in his capacity as the Club’s “Key Guy”. In the coming weeks he will resume his duties and going forward he’ll be the contact person for all your range-access needs.

However, in the short-term, the best way to gain access to the Ransom Road facility is to come shoot with us at the outdoor range on Thursday night. Or to come drink with us at Ripa’s when we’re done shooting on Thursday night. Or come to the WYNOPL match at the outdoor range (and wait for me to finish shooting) on Sunday, August 5th. Or you can wait until our next General Meeting (which might not be until the first Monday in September).

RIFLE RANGE CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

Improvements are being made to the 100/200 yard range. However, until this project is done, we must insist that no one (and we do mean no one!) shall be allowed to use the rifle range. Signs are being put up to warn guests and members.

If you see anyone setting up to fire on the range, or if you encounter someone using the rifle range, you should immediately stop them. You should immediately call myself, vice president Roy Smith, or either of our range officers, Bruce Matthies or Ken Curtis. Contact information is listed below.

We hope to have the matter finished within two weeks. Thank you, as always, for your understanding.
