June 2020 Newsletter

The next general meeting is
Monday, June 1, 2020 at 7:30 PM
by ZOOM internet video-conference.

We are excited to be able to offer a way to have a membership meeting after a two month hiatus.  We will be acting on at least one membership application and there will be some important information about club activities over the summer.

The Zoom Video Conference link can be open by clicking here and entering the meeting ID and password at the bottom of this Newsletter.  A direct link will be posted to the Club calendar and emailed out to the membership before the meeting.  Instructions on how to join and participate in a Zoom video meeting can be found here.  Please note, you are not required to activate your video camera enabled device to participate. We hope to have more members participating by video than in person, so please give it a try!

● The June 1, 2020, meeting will be our last meeting until September barring any emergencies or special meetings. If you are sponsoring a prospective member, please get their membership application to a Board Member, preferably Al Hopkins, ASAP.

● There is an outdoor range clean up scheduled for Saturday May 30, 2020.  Starting time will be 9:00 am.  Our chief range officer, Jim Wieberg, came up with a list of tasks that we hope to accomplish before noon.  The list can be downloaded by clicking here.  We will be putting up target frames and repairing the winter damage.  Please email Jim  if you have questions about what is on tap: jwieberg68@gmail.com.  Helping out on May 30 does count towards your 2020 volunteer hours requirement!

● The indoor range will reopen to formal club activities, such as regular Tuesday and Thursday practices once Western New York reaches Phase 4 under the Governor’s plan to lift NY-PAUSE. The range currently remains open for casual shooting. For organized club activities, social distancing will continue to be followed. Member are encouraged to use face masks until otherwise amended. As a reminder, members are to follow these rules:

  • If you are sick DO NOT visit the Club
  • If you feel warm or experience an itchy or sore throat DO NOT visit the Club.
  • If you suspect you may have come into contact with someone who is sick, DO NOT visit the Club
  • Please wash your hands. Use soap and water, not just alcohol based sanitizer.
  • Cover your mouth and nose when you sneeze.
  • Do follow the CDC and NYS-DOH recommendations to preserve your health.

● The outdoor range is open for shooting. Steel Plate Challenge will run on Tuesdays from approximately 5:30 pm to dusk. Shooters are reminded to practice “social distancing” even at the outdoor range. Check the Club website or contact Al Hopkins for more information. Alhop28 at yahoo.com

● Ten X will host un-sanctioned 2700 matches in June and August. We will also be hosting the WNY Outdoor Pistol League. WNYOPL will start on or about June 14. We will need members to fill out the team roster for WNYOPL. As a reminder WNYOPL is a series of 30 shot matches, .22 and, optionally, centerfire. Please email Jim Gerstung for more info and to get on the team roster.

● We hope to have more information about the club’s plans for 2020-2021 at various points over the summer. Please check the club website for up-to-date information. We look forward to seeing you on June 1.
